Winnie is the Regulatory Specialist for the GSMA Mobile Money Programme, based in Nairobi. She is involved in developing and implementing engagement strategies that advance MNOs’ policy and regulatory positions with regulators. She is also involved in building and managing relationships with operators, financial regulators, and key stakeholders in identifying strategic opportunities.

Winnie has over 13 years of experience in the financial sector as an in-house counsel, particularly in fintech, banking and insurance. Before joining GSMA, Winnie worked as a global legal and regulatory advisor with Exinity. Before that, Winnie worked at DT One as their senior legal counsel. She engaged stakeholders in managing regulatory and product development matters with MNOs in EMEA, APAC and LATAM.

Winnie has been Equity Bank Group’s Legal Counsel, where she was the legal and transaction advisor to the holding group entity and its subsidiaries.

Winnie is an Advocate of the High court of Kenya and has pursued her MBA at Strathmore Business School and a global EMBA module at IESE, Barcelona- Spain.
