Nafisa Usman
I am a Financial Technology and Digital Intelligence specialist, researcher, and policy practitioner working at the intersection of academia, regulation, and innovation. Currently, I serve as a Lecturer in Financial Technology and Digital Business at the University of Salford, while also working as a Manager in the Payments System Policy Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria, where I contribute to digital currency initiatives and national payment system development.
My work is uniquely positioned at the convergence of research, policy, and practice. I focus on advancing financial integrity, regulatory innovation, and inclusive digital finance, using data-driven insights to shape resilient and future-ready financial systems. Through my research and professional engagements, I actively contribute to global policy dialogues and collaborate with international institutions to address emerging challenges in FinTech, cybersecurity, and digital financial ecosystems.
I am particularly passionate about ensuring that technological innovation translates into real-world impact. My research has informed national policy and legislative development, including contributions to financial compliance reforms and digital resilience strategies in Nigeria.
With over 15 years of experience across academia, central banking, and digital governance, I am committed to bridging the gap between theory and practice—designing solutions that not only advance knowledge but also strengthen financial systems, empower communities, and drive sustainable development globally.
